The Navy Sailing Center and Marina, also known as Coasters Harbor Island Marina, is a premier recreational boating facility located on Naval Station Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. It serves the Navy community and authorized Department of Defense (DoD) patrons, offering a wide range of maritime activities and services Boat Rentals: A fleet of sailboats, powerboats, kayaks, and paddleboards is available for rent. Sail and powerboat rentals require a qualification card, while kayaks and paddleboards do not . Instructional Courses: Sailing and powerboating classes are offered to authorized patrons aged 18 and older. These courses cater to various skill levels and are designed to enhance boating proficiency . Berthing & Mooring: Seasonal and transient berthing options are available, with rates varying based on the patron's military or civilian status. The marina operates year-round, with specific hours depending on the season Launch Ramp: A boat launch ramp is provided for towed boats, facilitating easy access to the water for personal vessels Coasters Harbor Navy Yacht Club (CHNYC): This affiliated yacht club comprises approximately 200 members, including active duty personnel, veterans, retirees, and DoD civilians. The club emphasizes education and enjoyment in sailing and power boating May 1 – September 30: Daily, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM October: Daily, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM November 1 – April 30: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Closed on Fridays, weekends, and federal holidays Access to the Navy Sailing Center and Marina is restricted to authorized patrons, including active duty military, reservists, retirees, DoD civilians, and their families. Proper identification and base access credentials are required to utilize the facilities.
